Common Questions

For custom PC builds, 100% of the parts cost is required upfront before I order a single component. This protects both of us — you're guaranteed I'm ordering exactly what was agreed on, and I'm not out of pocket for parts. The full amount is refundable within 7 days of the initial agreement if you change your mind. Once parts are ordered, the parts cost is non-refundable. Labor is paid separately upon completion.
I charge a $60 diagnostic fee upfront. Once I've figured out what's wrong, I'll tell you exactly what it is and what it'll cost to fix. If you move forward with the repair, that $60 comes straight off your bill. If you decide not to proceed, you've paid for the diagnosis and that's it — no pressure.
Hard drives, SSDs, and NVMs are always returned to you unless you specifically request destruction. If you want it destroyed, I drill spinning drives and torch SSDs — because no software wipe is truly unrecoverable and I take that seriously. Other parts like RAM, GPUs, and motherboards are only returned if you specifically ask. Parts that aren't claimed go toward building computers for kids who can't afford one — it's my way of giving back, and it lines up with what I believe: everyone should have a working computer.
Most software repairs (virus removal, tune-ups, OS installs) are done same-day or next-day. Hardware repairs depend on parts availability. Custom builds typically take 2–5 days depending on part shipping. I'll give you a realistic timeline before we start.
Simple — $75/hr, billed in 30-minute increments, starting when I arrive. No visit fee, no service call charge. The hourly rate covers the assessment and any work done on-site. If the job needs to come back to the shop, the time I spent at your place is billed at the hourly rate and covers the diagnosis — you won't be charged a separate $60 diagnostic fee on top of that.
Cash, check, Apple Pay, and credit/debit cards via Stripe. Payment is due when the job is complete and you're happy with the work. Custom PC builds require full parts payment upfront before any parts are ordered — see the custom build FAQ above for full details.
Yes. Depending on the job, I may need to access your files — for example, if you've lost a file, the first thing I'm doing is checking your folders. But I never store your data past the completion of the job. If I need to back up your data to protect it during a repair, I wipe that drive completely once the job is done and use it fresh for the next job. Your data never leaves the job. Drives are always returned to you unless you specifically request destruction — in which case spinning drives get drilled and SSDs get torched, because no software wipe is truly unrecoverable.
